"Arizona Wildlife Views" TV show is produced by the Audio Visual Department of the Information & Education branch of the Arizona Game and Fish Department. We produce thirteen half hour shows, (without commercial interruption), each year. Our show is about wildlife, fishing, hunting, boating, off-roading and many other subjects about the endless opportunities that the Grand Canyon State has to offer. The Arizona Game and Fish Department is honored to give you a look at Arizona's great outdoors!

History
Arizona Wildlife Views History   On the air, first setArizona Wildlife Views began airing on Phoenix PBS station KAET TV 8 in the late sixties with host Bill Sizer, then Chief of Information & Education at the Arizona Game & Fish Department. He worked with co-hosts Bob Hirsch, Ross Manes, Ned Smith and others until 1971 when Wes Keyes joined the agency and appeared with Bill on the air.

Drought back in the early seventies put the agency in a budget crunch and Arizona Wildlife Views was one of the casualties in September 1972. For the next two decades, the Department did TV specials on several stations in the valley and produced a series of films on Arizona's wildlife and fishing opportunities. (We even had the honor of working with "the Duke" himself, John Wayne, on the firearm safety film, "This Little Bullet".)

During the late eighties, we had the opportunity to do a half hour show once a month for Arizona Outdoors, a weekly program airing on KUTP, Ch. 45 in Phoenix that was produced and hosted by Ned Smith and Reed Peterson. This run lasted about two years before Arizona Outdoors went off the air. Then the opportunity arose with Ch. 45 to produce our own program. Arizona Wildlife Views once again began airing in October of 1991 as a 13-week series.

We were on Ch. 45 for three years when discussions with the PBS affiliates in Phoenix and Tucson began. In January of 1995 the show started airing on PBS stations KAET TV 8, Phoenix and KUAT TV 6, Tucson. Arizona Wildlife Views completed its eighth season on PBS during the summer of 2002. Wes hosted the show until July of 2002, when he retired after 31 years of service with the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Chuck Emmert, a twenty-five year veteran Phoenix TV photojournalist, has taken over the reins and is the new host of the show.

Filming new showsChuck and producers Gary Schafer and Carol Lynde put together the 13 new shows for the upcoming season. These shows aired at 7:30 PM Tuesday nights on PBS station KAET TV 8 Phoenix. The shows also aired at 4:30 PM Sunday afternoons on KUAT TV 6 Tucson. In addition, Arizona Wildlife Views airs year round on many other stations across Arizona and 1 in Laughlin, Nevada.
