PHOENIX – The Ben Avery Shooting Facility is offering an introductory archery program. The goal of this program is to introduce youth ages 8-17 years of age to the sport of archery. The instruction will be focusing on safety, range procedures, and proper archery technique in Olympic-style target archery.

“Participating students have exhibited marked improvements in self-esteem, confidence, self-discipline, and self-worth,” states Denise Raum, archery education coordinator, Arizona Game and Fish Department.

Class dates are Thursdays Nov. 1, 8 and 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the archery education range of the Ben Avery Shooting Facility. The cost is $15 per archer payable at the first session via cash or check. Equipment is included as part of the program at no additional charge.

Additionally, a course for adults interested in the sport of archery is also being offered. This program will focus on safety, range procedures, and proper archery techniques in target archery.

The cost is $30 per archer payable at the first session via cash or check. Equipment is included as part of the program at no additional charge.
