Shooting Sports Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a hunting license for target practice?
No. A hunting license is not required to target shoot.
Where can I target shoot?
The Arizona Game and Fish Department recommends target shooting at organized shooting ranges. It is safer and better for the environment, and leaves much less litter. It is legal to target practice on some federal lands, Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management lands. It is recommended that you talk to these agencies to determine their policies. It is not legal to target shoot on State Trust Land.
