Per Arizona State Statute 17-202 (became effective on July 2010), the Arizona Game and Fish Commission Appointment Recommendation Board shall assist the governor by interviewing, evaluating and recommending candidates for appointment to the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. The Commission Appointment Recommendation Board shall recommend at least two, but no more than five, candidates to the governor. The governor must select and appoint a commissioner from the list submitted by the board.
Members of the board are Susan E. Chilton (Chair), W. Hays Gilstrap, Phillip D. Townsend, Donald R. Johnson, and W.J. “Jim” Lane.
Governor Ducey's Office of Boards and Commissions is currently accepting applications for the Arizona Game and Fish Commission.
Applications must be received or postmarked no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015. Applications received or postmarked after the deadline will not be considered.
Governor Ducey is seeking members who are well-informed and passionate about Arizona wildlife and its long-term conservation.
In accordance with Arizona law, the Game and Fish Commission is required to be politically-balanced and representative of all 15 counties. Therefore, this commission vacancy is NOT available to registered residents of Apache, Coconino, Maricopa, or Yuma counties. Residents of all other counties -- Cochise, Gila, Graham, Greenlee, La Paz, Mohave, Navajo, Pima, Pinal, Santa Cruz and Yavapai -- are eligible and encouraged to apply.
