EXPLORE BOWHUNTING PROGRAM

Bowhunter in forest

The Explore Bowhunting Program was developed by the Archery Trade Association to get more kids and adults engaged in outdoor activities.

The program contains 22 different activities to teach basic bowhunting skills, photography and wildlife watching.

The program can be used in school or after school, Parks and Recreation Departments, outdoor education centers and other community outreach programs.

TREE STAND SAFETY

Tree stand accidents are the number one cause of serious hunting related injuries. Most injured hunters were not wearing a safety harness.

Field Day Schedule    Updated August, 2014

Unfortunately, due to the little demand we do not schedule many Bowhunter Education field days in advance. What we will do is keep a waiting list with your needs and then we will make sure that you are able to complete your Bowhunter Education Certification before required.
Typically we will do additional classes late summer, early fall, before the fall hunts begin, or when we have enough students to warrant a class. Classes are usually held during the week in the morning at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility.
Because we offer so few classes we waive the 90 day completion time on your online certificate. You will have one full year to attend a field day. If you have any special requirements please let me know (need a weekend class, need it by a certain date, etc.).
To get on the waiting list please send the following information for each student to alynch@azgfd.gov:
  • Certificate Number (should start with an “AZ..”)
  • First and Last Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Address
  • Phone Number
  • Email Address

Date: August 27, 2014
Time: 7:00 AM to Noon
Location: Ben Avery Shooting Range
Conservation Education Building
4044 W. Black Canyon Blvd.
Phoenix AZ 85086
Fee: $0.00
Registration Pre-registration required
Instructor: Ashley Lynch
To register call: Pre-Register email alynch@azgfd.gov
Register by: Monday, August 25, 2014
Special Instructions:

On field day, bring your completion certificate from the online course, your own archery equipment (field points only). Loaner gear available with advance notice. Be prepared for exam and walk in desert, no sandals. Field day will begin at 7:00 A.M. in the Archery Range Classroom.

***This course is for bowhunter education and certification. You will not receive a bonus point.
