Online Wildlife Workshops
 

The Arizona Game and Fish Department is pleased to begin hosting our FREE online educator workshops again. These workshops are focused on wildlife and you only need an internet connection and audio capability to participate. Information about the specific workshops is below.

Registration is required using the form at the bottom of this page. Registered participants will receive login instructions via email prior to each workshop and a certificate of participation following the workshop.

Additional workshops may be added throughout the year.

America's Wildlife: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow NEW
When: Thursday, February 28, 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Who: High school science and social studies teachers
What: The struggle to preserve America's wildlife is an amazing tale of national and natural history. It is a story of what we can accomplish when we work together toward a common goal. Learn how to bring this story into your science or social studies classroom as we introduce a free curriculum. Standards-based lessons with engaging multimedia resources allow students to explore wildlife conservation in the context of American history. Participants of this workshop will receive a free copy of the curriculum.

It's a Bird...It's a Plane - Lessons from the Wright Brothers NEW
When: Tuesday, April 10, 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Who: Middle school teachers, can be adapted for older and younger audiences
What: Join us for this unique workshop that integrates wildlife biology, physical science, and history. Learn how the Wright brothers can be used to explore the Nature of Science and biomimicry. This interactive workshop will examine the process the inventors went through to develop the first airplane, using easily accessible primary source documents including their own diaries, pictures, and writings. Then ,focusing on modern times we will examine a variety of airplanes. Will you be able to match their designs with the birds from which they were modeled? Lots of ideas for exciting student activities, complete with classroom- ready materials will be shared.
