2009 Arizona State USA Shooting and SCTP Junior Olympic Trap Championship

Once again this year the Arizona State Junior Olympic match was supported by both USA Shooting and the Scholastic Clay Target Program.  Junior shooters from across the state were able to compete for the chance to represent Arizona at the Junior Olympics in Colorado Spring, CO at the end of July.  Almost half of all athletes shot the minimum qualification score.

It was a tight race all around.  Congratulations to the winning SCTP squad of Kyle Wandelear, Quinton Moore and Zach Kelly from the Red Mountain Target Terminators over the second place squad by 2 targets and third place squad by 3 more.  Congratulations to Garret Cobbs from the Target Terminators and Matthew Ojerio previously with the Huachuca Hot Shots for their top scores of 117.  Ojerio prevailed in the shoot-off to win the JO Gold with the SCTP Gold going to Cobbs, both will receive JO invitations.  Taran Homol from the Central Arizona Target Shooters was top JO lady and top SCTP lady and will also be receiving an invitation.

The last match of the season will be May 23 in Tucson at the Tucson Trap and Skeet Club.  Good luck to all young athletes participating in the Arizona State Junior Olympic match for Skeet.
