The Department is seeking comments on the draft mountain lion action plan and protocol, and on the report from the Mountain Lion Workshops that were held in Flagstaff and Phoenix.

The goal of the workshops was to begin the process of exploring options by which lions in urban areas might be managed to minimize risks to the public, and to explore funding options to accommodate these new approaches. The Flagstaff and Phoenix workshops were part of a series of workshops that were conducted around the state, with each workshop building on information collected from previous workshops and on additional public comments received on the issue.

Ultimately, a final report will be prepared that includes input from all workshops and comment periods for consideration by the Department and the Arizona Game and Fish Commission in formulating long-range plans for the management of mountain lions in the urban interface.
